A man was killed Sunday in a fire inside an abandoned room on a subway platform in New York City.
The middle-aged victim, who was not immediately identified, was apparently living in the communications room near the platform at the Lexington Avenue and 63rd Street train station in Manhattan, according to a report from the New York Daily News (http://nydn.us/zuEyak).
Fire Department of New York (FDNY) firefighters found the victim after they extinguished the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, though it is suspected to be accidental. The victim reportedly had a toaster and hot plate in the room.
