The shorter ladder also reduced the front overhang, according to Deputy Chief Bill Colvin. The 21-square-mile suburban tourist community of 5,600 has more than twice that population in the summer. Numerous mansions, motels, and schools warrant a ladder truck, which also has pumper capability.

The Newark-based UMDNJ-University Hospital EMS at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey placed this HACKNEY heavy rescue truck in service. It`s the hospital`s fourth-generation rescue truck serving Newark, EMS Director Nancy Hamstra says. In a joint promotional venture, HALE PRODUCTS, INC., and HACKNEY & SONS have introduced a Hurst Jaws of LifeT rescue truck that will appear at trade shows, extrication competitions, and training classes. Hackney, based in Washington, North Carolina, built the 25-foot unit that will feature a variety of Hale`s Hurst tools and airbags. Hale is based in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.
