Four D.C. firefighters were injured during a fire that spread through a number of rowhouses on Capitol Hill. Two of the crew members suffered second- and third-degree burns. Be sure to read more about this incident, as well as the continuing wildfire fight in California, in our Global Headlines.

Last week we talked to Captain Larry Collins of the Los Angeles County Fire Department about some of the things he'd witnessed on the ground during the first few days fighting the California wildfires. Although progress has been made against many of the fires, Larry's ground-eye-view account is still gripping. You can listen to the interview on your computer or mp3 player by visiting our Podcasts section.

Next week Wednesday, November 7, is our live Webcast "Positive Pressure Attack for Ventilation and Firefighting," presented by Kriss Garcia and Reinhard Kauffmann, both battalion chiefs with the Salt Lake City (UT) Fire Department. You can sign up to participate in this free Web event by scrolling to the bottom of the homepage.
