Proper size-up of the fireground is everyone's job. In most cases, the engine company will arrive first, so this session will focus on decision making by the first-in engine company. Each member of the company needs to complete a personal size-up based on their assignment on the fireground.Size-up allows the company to estimate hoseline stretches, fire location, identification of potential victims and many other operational factors. Size-up is said to be an ongoing process that means you can re-evaluate your decisions based on new facts and observations.
