By William C. Peters National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1901, Standard for Automotive Fire Apparatus, has undergone its routine five-year update. Many people in the fire service are under the impression that the manufacturers update the standard. Although they do have their representation, the voting members of the NFPA Apparatus Committee are comprised of 30 members, and the committee chairman is always a member of the fire service.
