CommandSim, producers of simulation technology for virtual emergency responder training that yields real results, is proud to announce it was selected recently as the winner of the prestigious Adobe MAX award in the ‘Public Sector’ category. With CommandSim, thousands of responders across the United States monthly are building skills that translate into real performance improvements in the field.

The annual Adobe MAX Awards is a global awards program that recognizes the best uses of Adobe software for creating engaging experiences. View the 2009 Winners and Finalists here: http://2009.max.adobe.com/awards/finalists/.

Following the award, Adobe interviewed CommandSim and its customers to prepare a case study about how CommandSim software is making a real difference for responder safety.  he case study is available on Adobe.com.

The following are some excerpts from the case study:

  • "The value CommandSim brings is enormous, because we can practice how we work in a no-consequence setting", says Nyle Zikmund, Fire Chief of the Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View Fire Department in Minnesota.
  • Ryan Peterson, CTC Administrator at the Utah Fire & Rescue Academy, explains "CommandSim is an invaluable tool for our students. It allows us to train in a dynamic, real-time environment, which can only be replicated with actual fireground operations.... CommandSim provides the most accurate and realistic evaluation tool possible for our customers."
  • According to Donald Hall, Firefighter/Paramedic in the Technical Services Unit of the Chesterfield Fire & EMS (Virginia), "[n]ot only can we safely simulate incidents that our firefighters would face in our communities, but we also are reducing out-of-service time because people can participate in the exams in their respective districts.”

We are filling the need for realistic, recurrent, safe, and affordable training for emergency responders,” says Jonathan Kaye, President of Equipment Simulations LLC, the producers of CommandSim. “It is incredibly rewarding personally to hear reports from the field about how CommandSim is making a real difference in performance, to know we have a real impact on peoples’ lives. In one actual incident, the Commander pulled crews out of a building moments before it collapsed, because of the signs recognized from practice using CommandSim.  Even one call like that makes what we’re doing worthwhile.”

Equipment Simulations LLC, producers of CommandSim, is an award-winning technology company based in Philadelphia that aims to change the way people learn high-risk, mission critical decision making and equipment operations, through simulated, performance-based methods.  Its products and services help individuals and organizations train to perform just as they would in the real world, but in a safe, measurable, cost-effective, and repeatable way.
