The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) is the premier nonprofit association serving the volunteer fire, emergency, and rescue services. Today, the NVFC serves as the voice of over one million volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel on Capitol Hill and provides valuable training, community support, and other resources.
The NVFC seeks a motivated and enthusiastic Director of Health and Safety for our Greenbelt (MD) location. Responsibilities include managing the NVFC’s health and safety projects including the Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program; serving as a spokesperson for the NVFC’s health and safety initiatives; developing new and innovative project ideas and grant proposals to support them; preparing and managing budgets; building coalitions and partnerships; contract management; marketing and evaluating projects; and other duties as assigned. Ideal candidate will have excellent program management skills, an ability to multitask, show strong initiative, excel at written and verbal communication, have fire service experience, and have an interest in health and safety issues. Bachelor's degree; four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Salary is commensurate with experience. Relocation expenses are not provided.
