EDGARTOWN, MA – Emergency Film Group has released a new edition of its award winning training film “Hydrogen Sulfide,” which has important information for emergency personnel who may respond to an incident involving this poison gas.
It is also appropriate for those who work where hydrogen sulfide may be present and require right-to-know training. “Hydrogen Sulfide” combines realistic training scenarios with exciting historic footage of a hydrogen sulfide incident in Lodgepole, Alberta that lasted for 68 days. Included with the DVD is an Instructor CD-Rom with extra information on the use of hydrogen sulfide in chemical-assisted suicide, a new phenomenon that is putting communities and emergency responders at risk.
“Hydrogen Sulfide” describes emergency response procedures for a spill, leak or fire where H2S is thought to be present. It provides information about the hazard properties of hydrogen sulfide, and explains why, in spite of its pungent odor, smell cannot be relied upon to detect the presence of this poisonous gas. Other topics explored include monitoring equipment and methodology; compatibility for piping systems where H2S is in use; ventilation operations during emergencies; symptoms of chronic and acute exposure; actions for first responders at suspected incidents; protective clothing & respiratory protection; why letting a fire burn may be the best strategy; and decontamination procedures for victims and responders.
"Hydrogen Sulfide" is the winner of the CINE Golden Eagle award from the Council of International Events for filmmaking excellence and training effectiveness.
Included with the package is a Resource CD-Rom with customizable PowerPoint presentations that can be used by the Instructor as the basis of a training seminar, interactive testing materials, and a number of references in .pdf format that will enhance a training seminar.
