Off-Duty Firefighter Helped FL Crash Victims

02/02/2012
As a firefighter with the Orange County (FL) Fire Rescue, Lucas Sloan is trained to jump into action during an emergency. So when a massive pileup caused by smoke from a wildland fire occurred on I-75 Sunday, Sloan was prepared to help victims. More than 10 people were killed and 18 injured overnight in the crash. Rescuers were blinded by the smoke and fog from the fire. For more on such large-scale incidents, consider MULTIPLE CASUALTY INCIDENT MANAGEMENT, PART 1.
