As a firefighter with the Orange County (FL) Fire Rescue, Lucas Sloan is trained to jump into action during an emergency. So when a massive pileup caused by smoke from a wildland fire occurred on I-75 Sunday, Sloan was prepared to help victims.
More than 10 people were killed and 18 injured overnight in the crash. Rescuers were blinded by the smoke and fog from the fire.
