Rothman Introduces Bill to Extend Narrowband Deadline for First Responders

Washington, DC – Congressman Steve Rothman (D-NJ), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, has filed legislation, H.R. 3430, to extend a Federal Communication Commission (FCC) deadline for upgrading First Responders’ communications equipment for two years, from January 1, 2013 to January 1, 2015.  “First, without cooperation from Congress, already overburdened local taxpayers in each town will potentially be on the hook for several hundred thousand dollars to meet an unfunded federal mandate.
