Cause of Deadly NY Fire Still Uncertain

From By Shawn Cohen Carmel, NY - The May 1 house fire that killed a Larchmont police captain and his family apparently started outside the house, near the electric and gas meters by the front porch, said Woody Ledwith, the home’s insurance inspector. Ledwith, a retired New York City firefighter, is still uncertain of the cause, but a gas or electrical meter malfunction could have sparked flames that would have spread to the porch’s roof, to the flammable vinyl siding, through walls, and into the ceilings.
