Paramedic Killed in Staten Island Ambulance Crash

A retired FDNY EMS lieutenant was killed in a violent collision between an ambulance and an SUV in Staten Island (NY) Monday night. David Restuccio, 58, of Meiers Corners, was working as a paramedic on the ambulance at the time of the crash. He died when his ambulance collided with a BMW SUV at 7 p.m. near an intersection. Witnesses told the Staten Island Advance that the driver of a BMW SUV, headed north, jumped the divider. The ambulance, an SIUH vehicle, headed south with a patient and two paramedics, swerved but couldn't avoid the collision.
