Two firefighters intervened in a violent domestic dispute in New York City's Chinatown neighborhood on Sunday.
The New York Post reported (http://bit.ly/YRDF5n) that Fire Department of New York Firefighters Jose Ortiz and James Trainor said they heard a couple screaming at each other and tussling around 10:24 a.m. While working on the rigs, the firefighters saw a man dragging a woman down the street. The woman was screaming and crying; the man bore a meat cleaver and began hacking at the woman.
The firefighters approached the suspect and restrained him until police arrived on scene. A third firefighter, Shane Clarke, went to assist the female, who fled the scene. The woman was listed in critical condition last night at Bellevue Hospital but is expected to survive.
