Firefighter News: Michigan Family Escapes Dwelling Fire

Article and photos by Mike Ferdinande Ferdinande Fotography Late Thursday night on February 7, Shelby Township (MI) firefighters responded to reports of a fire in a occupied dwelling at 46029 Schimmer Ave. The first-arriving company found heavy fire going throughout a single-story dwelling. The family was home at the time of the fire, but escaped. (UPDATE/CORRECTION: 4:33 p.m. Eastern): The father suffered second- and third-degree burns in the fire and was transported to Troy Beaumont Hospital and then later transferred to University of Michigan Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
