Fire Dynamics: AL Firefighter Describes Rescue of Boy from House Fire

A recent residential fire that almost claimed the life of a young boy in Mobile, Alabama, was enabled by one of the occupants opening a door in the home. Fire officials told WPMI that, during a dwelling fire this month on Farnell Drive, a woman opened the front door of a burning home, introducing oxygen that aided fire spread. She escaped but was unable to rescue her grandson, who was lost in the home. Fortunately, Mobile Fire Captain Richard Harris made entry through a window and rescued the four-year-old from the bathroom of the home.
