Firefighting News: Wounded West Webster Firefighter Testifies Before Congress

Wounded West Webster (NY) firefighter Ted Scardino called for tougher gun control laws before the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, reports WHAM 13. Scardino was one of four firefighters wounded when they responded to a fire on December 24. Joseph Hofstetter was also wounded. Firefighters Tomasz Kaczowka and Mike Chiapperini died in the ambush. Prosecutors allege the guns purchased by Dawn Nguyen were used by  gunman William Spengler, in what is known as a straw purchase. During straw purchases, someone buys firearms for someone else to avoid a criminal background check. Read more of the story here
