AZ Fire Crews Test Out Firefighter Locating and Tracking Technology

Phoenix (AZ) firefighters are testing out a new technology that allows the tracking and monitoring of fire personnel inside of structures.

Crews tested out Honeywell's Geo-spatial Location, Accountability and Navigation System for Emergency Responders (GLANSER) at the Lower Buckeye Training Facility Wednesday and Thursday, according to a report on azfamily.com (http://bit.ly/Zm3Pgc).

"The quality of it is so intense. It's like a video game, but it's so specific and precise," said Phoenix Battalion Chief Shelly Jamison. "I've never seen anything like it."

Last August, GLANSER was tested during a training event at the Worcester (MA) Technological Institute and got favorable reviews.
