Firefighter Staffing: Indianapolis Fire Department to Hire 39 Firefighters with Grant

A federal grant will make it possible for the Indianapolis (IN) Fire Department to hire 39 additional firefighters. RTV6 reports ( that the city has qualified for a $4M Staffing Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant, which will allow the department to maintain current service levels and keep all the city's fire stations open.
