Hazmat Response: CA Fire Station Evacuated Due to Potential Explosives

A fire station in Riverside County (CA) was evacuated yesterday after possible explosives were brought there. A family was cleaning out a house in the community of Valle Vista when they came across some unusual items and brought them to an area fire station, according to the Press-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/15xHVL4). Not knowing how dangerous the potential materials were, firefighters evacuated the station and called in a bomb squad. Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department Battalion Chief Dean Viek told reporters the potential explosive materials appeared to be chemicals used for making fireworks.
