Firefighters Injured When Floor Collapses at MO Fire

A Mayday was issued on the fireground when the floor collapses under two firefighters Thursday during a house fire in Bonne Terre, Missouri.

The incident reportedly occurred at the house of a retired Bonne Terre firefighter, according to a report from the local FOX affiliate (http://bit.ly/126jtkj).

The house where the incident occurred was apparently of balloon-frame construction, which can allow for rapidly vertical fire extension.

During the course of the incident, the first floor collapsed under two Park Hill firefighters; one was sent sprawling into the home's basement, while the other hung on.

A Mayday was issue and the firefighter who fell was immediately rescued. He reportedly suffered a sprained ankle.
