Structural Firefighting: IN Firefighters Extinguish Residential Fire

By Eric Guhl On June 19, Indianapolis (IN) firefighters quickly controlled a fire in a residence that contained no working smoke detectors. No injuries were reported on scene. Firefighters were dispatched at midnight to a fire in a wood-frame dwelling at 1817 Dexter Street. They found fire showing upon arrival and commenced an offensive attack using two 1 3/4-inch handlines. Firefighters arrived on the scene to find fire showing from the basement window. Firefighters also found the fire had extended within the walls to the first level.
