State Police Investigating Death of IL Chief

By Sam Smith

Elizabethtown (IL) - Police are investigating the death of Elizabethtown Fire Department (EFD) Chief Tim Dillard. The 45-year-old was found dead Tuesday night in his home.

Dillard had been fire chief for about six months. He also owned a business in Gallatin County, and his employees are shocked at the news.

Brandon Gibbons worked for Dillard for about 18 months. It was just after 7 p.m. Tuesday when he got a call from a co-worker.

He says Dillard opened his shop, Dillard Tarp Systems, nearly a decade ago.

While running the business, Dillard volunteered with the EFD and worked his way up to become chief.
