Structural Firefighting: Boston Firefighters Battle 5-Alarm Church Fire

Boston (MA) firefighters battled a five-alarm fire today at a historic church. No one was inside the building when the fire broke out and no civilians were injured, but eight firefighters suffered a variety of minor injuries, according to a report from The Boston Globe (http://bo.st/173iPUO). The fire at St. John the Baptist Church sent up a smoke plume that was visible for miles, and the building is expected to be a total loss. An immediate evacuation of the fireground was called when pieces of the ceiling began to fall on firefighters inside the building, spurring fears of collapse.
