Firefighter Memorial to Feature Names of Fallen

With the deaths of 19 fire fighters in Prescott (AZ) still weighing heavy on our hearts, professional fire fighters will gather in Colorado Springs to honor their brothers and sisters who paid the ultimate price to keep their communities safe.

Attend this moving ceremony set in the shadow of Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs as comrades and grieving families pay tribute to those who gave their lives in the line of duty. Honor Guard teams and pipers and drummers from dozens of communities will march in tandem as families of the fallen are presented with ceremonial folded flags.

A complete list of names to be added to the Wall of Honor can be found here. Details about the service and the Wall of Honor are here. The entire memorial service will be streamed live online and can be viewed here. Interviews can be arranged on request.

The fire fighters and paramedics being honored this year died between June 1, 2012 and June 1, 2013. Fire fighters who died prior to June 1, 2012, but were reported during the past year, also will be honored. The names of the 19 fire fighters who perished June 30while battling the Yarnell Hill wildfire in Prescott, Arizona, will be added to the Wall in 2014.

The IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial, with the addition this year of the names of 157 fire fighters, will bear the names of 2,808 fallen fire fighters who have died since 1976. The Wall of Honor includes the names of 343 fire fighters who perished 12 years ago this month on September 11, 2001.
