Fire Service Industry News: Howard County Department of Fire & Rescue Responds to Commercial Fire

Shortly before 6:30 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014, Howard County Department of Fire & Rescue Services (HCDFRS) units were dispatched to the 10400 block of Little Patuxent Parkway in Columbia to investigate an automatic fire alarm sounding.  The building is a four-story commercial building with several businesses. First arriving units found smoke on the fourth floor of the building and fire in an exhaust duct system that appeared to have been from a fire which started on a lower level.  The original fire was controlled by an extinguishing at the source but not before it traveled into the exhaust duct system.  Crews quickly brought the incident under control and contin...
