House Appropriations Committee Approves DHS Spending Bill

On Wednesday, June 11th, the House Appropriations Committee approved the Fiscal Year 2015 spending bill for the Department of Homeland Security.  The $39.2 billion spending bill was approved by the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee on May 28th

The bill funds the Assistance to Firefighters (FIRE) grant program and the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant program at $340 million each, the same level of funding for the current fiscal year.  Additionally, the bill maintains the current level of funding for the United States Fire Administration (USFA) at $44 million. 

The bill will now go before the full House for consideration.  The Senate Appropriations Committee is expected to take up companion legislation in the coming weeks.
