Four People Rescued After Boat Catches Fire Off Malibu

Officials said four people -- three adults and one child -- had to be rescued Saturday evening when the boat they were riding in caught fire near Malibu, reports CBS Los Angeles (http://cbsloc.al/1BpRsVQ)

The fire was reported around 7 p.m., authorities said.

The boat was about 1000 yards off shore, near Paradise Cove, when the boat reported being in distress. The group was rescued by a research vessel called Pacific Storm, according to LA County Lifeguards.

Authorities said there was no reason to transport any of the group to local hospitals for additional treatment.

The boat sunk after about 20 minutes, KCAL9’s Bobby Kaple reported.
