Hi boys and girls! Welcome to Sparkles’ Kids Zone on Firelife.com! Writing this column is so much fun because I get to share fire safety and all the adventures of the fire safety dogs!
Once again it is really hot out where I live. Is it really hot where you are?
In my last column, I shared a few safety tips for helping you keep safe from the sun this summer. Here’s another safety tip for the hot weather:
Drink Up!
It’s really important to drink water, especially when it is hot outside. Did you know that when you are sweating that your body loses water that your body needs to work properly? And if you do any activities like playing basketball or baseball or another sport, or running around, you sweat a whole lot more and you lose even more water!
Did you know that if you drink water before you get thirsty, you will keep the water level in your body from dropping to low? So get out that water bottle and start drinking up! We want you to be safe!
Siren turned 1 year old on August the 2nd! Hasn’t he grown up fast?

Our last Sparkles’ Safety Spot (episode 8) was live streamed right in the clubhouse! We dedicated the show to Angelica Riggins. We had a very special guest! Finnagus Sage from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office (AR) was in the Clubhouse along with his human, Sue. We shared all sorts of tips to help keep children and grown-ups safe!
