We have a giant gap between the challenges we face and the level of performance currently meeting those challenges. On the average day in the average firehouse, we often see unmotivated individuals with bosses who lack the skills to inspire their crew to train and perform on a level that is commensurate with the level of pay and public trust that has been bestowed on our profession.
