Brooklyn pub crawl benefits wildland firefighter organization

Middle

May 3, 2008 will be the second annual Brooklyn Pub Crawl, hosted by a wildland firefighter who makes his home in Brooklyn, New York, during the off-season. Completely organized and hosted by wildland firefighter Brian Geraghty and his non-firefighting friend Eddie Ciminelli, all proceeds go to benefit the Wildland Firefighter Foundation, located in Boise, Idaho.

'Crawlers' will start at the Floyd bar in Brooklyn at 1:30 p.m., continuing on to other bars designated on a map given to those who attend. Participants receive a T-shirt for their donation of $30 and are encouraged to join the Wildland Firefighter Foundation's membership program, the 52 Club.

The Wildland Firefighter Foundation provides support to fallen firefighters families and to firefighters who are injured while performing their duties. On average 25 wildland firefighters will die in the line of duty--that's 25% of all firefighters who are killed in any given year. These firefighters perform seasonal work protecting our land, natural resources, and lately in many cases, lives, many do not have health benefits. When they die or are injured, they are generally hundreds or thousands of miles from home.

For more information about the pub crawl, or the Wildland Firefighter Foundation, log on to www.wffoundation.org or call the office at (208) 336-2996.
