Drill of the Week: Water Rescue

Middle

By Forest Reeder

Almost every community has some type of water rescue potential. Compared to the man technical rescue disciplines, water operations are probably the most likely scenario to occur in most communities.

This sample scenario will allow you to review the incident scenario and discuss your department's operations for this type of response. Determine your initial company actions, activation of additional resources, and crew assignments for the initial phases of this operation. Use your department's SOG for this incident scenario and use the area map and operations to check sheets as supplements to your scenario. Crew safety and proper PPE (including personal floatation devices) must be available and required for all of our responders.
