October Roundtable: Engine Company Assignments

Middle

October Roundtable Question: Some departments operate under specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) that give specific direction to the first- and second-arriving engines at a working fire (as well as all incoming units), called "preincident assignment." Other departments let the first-arriving officer make initial assignments based on the situation, called "incident-specific assignment." How does your department make initial engine company assignments at a working fire?

Please limit your response to 250 words, and remember to include your name, rank, dept, city, and state.

Deadline for Responses: June 23, 2008.
