Q. What is meant by the term "triple combination pumper?" Scroll down for the answer!
A. A triple combination pumper (actually, the type of engine we typically use today) has three major components: a pump, a hose bed/supply, and a water tank. Predecessors to motorized fire apparatus, like the steam fire engine, did not have a hose bed/supply and a water tank. Hose was carried separately by a "hose wagon."
