Player openings still available for NFFF golf tournaments

Middle

The survivors of our nation's firefighters lost in the line of duty will once again benefit from the efforts of their comrades and supporters of firefighters across the United States. To continue supporting the surviving children and family members of firefighters who have given the ultimate sacrifice, 23 regional golf tournaments will be conducted during the week of the nation's U.S. Golf Open from June 9-15th. The proceeds from these tournaments will be used by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) to help ensure the financial securityof the surviving families and to preserve the memory of their loved ones who have died in the line of duty.

"We are humbled by the number of regional representatives that have come forward to host a regional tournament in this effort to raise funds for the families of the fallen," said recently retired Deputy United States Fire Administrator Charlie Dickinson. "There are still openings for firefighters and fire service supporters to enter these tournaments. It is my hope that all firefighters take the opportunity to sign up for the tournament in their area."

In 2007, the NFFF raised over $115,000 to benefit the children, spouses and other family members of our fallen firefighters.

"With 23 tournaments in 2008, we know the amount raised will be higher," Dickinson continued. "Even more significant is the fact that firefighters throughout the nation, during this one week, will come together to ensure the survivors of fallen firefighters receive the necessary support they need to restore and heal from the loss of their firefighter."
