Nov. 2--NORFOLK -- Firefighters spent Sunday morning clearing smoke from a commercial building after a forklift caught fire at a cold storage facility on East Princess Anne Road.
The fire was called in just before 10:30 a.m., said Battalion Chief Harry Worley, a Norfolk Fire-Rescue spokesman. Firefighters arrived at AmeriCold Logistics, 3801 E. Princess Anne Road, to find a forklift on fire near a loading dock.
Sprinklers put out the fire, and firefighters worked to remove the smoke it created. The fire was under control after 11 a.m., Worley said. It appears to have been accidental. The fire did not enter any refrigerated areas, where it could have interacted with hazardous materials, he said.
