Nov. 4--Firefighters spent more than an hour this morning battling a blaze a a night club in Virginia Beach.
The Steppin' Out night club, located on Nevin Road in the city's Hilltop section, went up in flames just before 3:30 a.m. Battalion chief Henry Austin said firefighters had to work it as a "defensive fire," from outside the building and from above using ladder trucks, because they were unable to enter the building.
He said the fire appeared to have started in the kitchen area and spread to the rest of the building. Austin said the club sustained "heavy smoke damage and moderate fire damage." There were no injuries reported.
The fire was brought under control just after 4:30 a.m. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
