What is Said of Us. We have before us No. 2 of the NATIONAL FIREMAN’S JOURNAL, published in New York by Everett, Thomson & Co. It is in quarto form. with sixteen pages of interesting reading matter. It has an open field, and with a continuance of the enterprise and spirit exhibited will meet with | success. There has been going on for some time a wholesome reformation in fire organization. A better class of men have taken positions in the companies’ ranks, and the officers are more carefully selected than formerly, The result is city governments are more liberal in granting appropriations for fire purposes, and the causes of fires and controlling them when under way, are being studied more closely than at any previous period.
