Let Justice Be Done. In September last, the Hyde Park Hotel, located at Hyde Park, a suburb of Chicago, was destroyed by fire, involving a loss of nearly $100,000. From the fact that the town was supplied with the Holly system of water, works and what was supposed to be an efficient Fire Department, the loss of this splendid structure created much comment. As usual the blame was thrown upon the Holly Water Works, the newspapers—especially those which cater to the insurance interest—declaring that the Water Works were inadequate, the machinery defective, etc. The Board of Trustees at its next meeting appointed a special committee to investigate the subject of the fire, and to report upon the working of the Holly : system.
