Random Sparks. —The Fire Department of Steubenville, Ohio, consists of 2 Steamers, 4 Hose Carriages, 1 Hook and Ladder Truck, 1 Chief of Department, 2 Assistants and a total force of 90 men. —A number of Firemen of the Philadelphia force were dismissed on the 1st. The hostility of the Council towards the Commissioners is said to have furnished the motive for the dismissals. —The Supreme Court in Chicago has decided against the legality of the issue of the city scrip which was forced upon the members of the Fire Deparment in compensation for their services. —Foreman W. Knight, of Station No. 28, Philadelphia, gave a house-warming to his friends one evening last week, the occasion being the dedica’ion of the new house corner of Belgrade and Clearfield streets.
