MINOR TOPICS The Gutta Percha and Rubber Manufacturing Company, of New York, has sold to San Jose, Cal., 1000 feet of the celebrated carbolized hose, of the Maltese Cross brand, and also one Amoskeag Steam Fire Engine. Business with the Fabric Fire Hose Company, of Warwick, N. Y., is brisk, as is evidenced by a 75-foot extension to the factory now in process of construction. Orders were received the past week for 3000 feet of hose. At the trial of pipes, and three-way or triple connections, before the Boston Fire Commissioners, on March 10, Hunneman & Co. were the most successful, throwing a solid stream of water, inch 308 feet, from the nozzle of the pipe, by accurate measurement, and 45 feet farther than the next best stream.
