CITY & VICINITY NOTES OF MEN AND THINGS. The late fire in Cherry Street occasioned the first “three licks” the Department has had in a long while. At the large Bowery fire six weeks ago, the two Steamers of Engine Company No. 9, were siamesed together with favorable results. This is, perhaps, the first time that any actual test has been made at a fire, and it is gratifying to note the success which attended it. A four-wheeled Tender is now being built at the Repair Yard, under the Supervision of Captain McCabe. It will be placed In service immediately after completion, in Engine Company No. 14. who will thus have the distinction of being the first company in the city to run a fourwheeled Tender, excepting those at present quartred with the self-propellers.
