TOPICS OF THE DAY. FORM the present indications, Kansas City, insurance men crowed too soon. The great fire there last week will cost insurance companies about two years’ total receipts in that city, to say nothing of expenses. THE Illinois State Firemen’s Association will start this year free from debt. President Bullwinkle and the Board of Control have done work for which they should receive the thanks of the Association at its next meeting, which will probably be held at Quincy. Chief Steinback, of that city, is now at work collecting money to pay expenses and prizes, and if a sufficient amount is paid in the Board of Control will vote Quincy the next place of meeting.
