CITY & VICITY NOTES OF MEN AND THINGS. The Fire Department has to its credit for the payment of salaries, $267,000, and for apparatus, supplies, etc., $72,000. Dr. Frank L. Ives, the medical officer of the Board, reports that there are on is sick list the names of thirty-eight officers and men who have received their injuries in the service of the Fire Department. Most of them will receive full pay. A concert was given at Astoria, L. I., Wednesday evening, April 20, under the auspices of Hook and Ladder Company No. 1. The performers were specially engaged for the occasion, and the well rendered programme scrvid to entertain a large audience, which was lavish in its applause.
