THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER BUSINESS. There seems to be a fatality connected with the manufacture of fire extinguishers, which involves heavy losses to the capitalists who invest in the business, and is pretty sure to entangle them in costly and protracted litigation. The number of companies organized since the discovery that certain chemicals could be utilized in the extinguishment of fire, and the hundreds of individuals engaged in them cannot be enumerated, but it is known that millions of dollars have been lost by deluded stockholders in various companies that have undertaken the manufacture of fire extinguishers. It has yet to be recorded where a single Company has made money in the business although many individuals have done a successful and profitable business in selling these machines. A great cause of failure of these companies has lain in the fact that nearly all of them have been drawn into interminable litigation…
