TOPICS OF THE DAY. A CORRESPONDENT inquires what the advantages are in favor of incorporating a fire company. By being incorporated under the State law, a company is enabled to hold property, real and personal, which it cannot lawfully do without being incorporated. It also enjoys the blessed privilege of suing and being sued in its corporate capacity, luxuries not enjoyed by unincorporated associations. These are the main advantages of incorporation. As individuals, membecs of companies enjoy their personal legal rights as citizens; as an unincorporated body, they have no rights. The act of incorporation, however, confers upon the company virtually the rights and privileges enjoyed by an individual. THE Firemen of Poughkeepsie, N.
