CITY & VICINITY NEW YORK FIRE DEPARTMENT. NOTES OF MEN AND THINGS. Dr. Ives, medical officer of the Fire Department, reports that there are on his list fifteen sick and injured officers and men. Proposals have been opened for the erection of a House for Engine 37, Hook and Ladder 16 and Hook and Ladder 18. Several bids were received, but no awards of contracts were made. Fireman Louis Harued, of Engine 31, was charged with absence without leave on June 7. He was fined two days’ pay. Private Michael McEnerny, of Engine 20 was charged with absence without leave on June 6. He also was fined two days’ pay. Private Thomas J. Mooney, of Engine 7, was charged with failing to respond to an alarm of fire and neglect of duty. He was fined five days’ pay.
