CITY & VICINITY NOTES OF MEN AND THINGS. Mayor Grace has approved the Aldermanic resolution requesting the Board of Fire Commissioners to examine all the public schools in the city, and see if, in their judgment, there are proper exits for the children in case of fire or accident. The Board of Fire Commissioners have appointed William H. Mooney a Private of Hook and Ladder No. 10, and transferred Fireman Theodore H. Ernst, of Engine No. 26, to Engine No. 23; Fireman Patrick J. Feehan, of Engine No. 37, to Engine No. 3; Private of the third grade John McLeod Murphy, of Engine No. 7, to Engine No. 45. Fire Marshal Sheldon has submitted to the Fire Commissioners his report for the first quarter of the present year, from which it appears that during that period there were 531 fins, involving an estimated loss on buildings of $367,730, and on…
