RANDOM SPARKS —Audubon, Nebraska, has voted to have water-works. —Aurora, Ill., is agitating the question of city water-works. —Minneapolis has just been putting in some new street fire alarm boxes. —The total loss by the fire at Colfax, W. T., is $388,820; insurance, $197,275. —At Corry, Pa., July 29, Hare & Co.’s furniture factory burned. Loss, $40,000; insurance, $12,975. —The appropriation for the Jersey City Department for next year is $85,000, or $10,000 less than this year. —The high-pressure system of water-works will be built in Iowa City, Iowa, and completed before January. —A conflagration at Radziwillow, Russia, swept away three hundred houses and left three thousand persons homeless. —Waterbury, Conn., is laying water mains in streets heretofore unsupplied with water, which adds greatly to their fire protection. —There has been a great fire in the rural districts of the northern part of the Province of Senday, Japan.
