CITY & VICINITY NEW YORK DEPARTMENT. NOTES OF MEN AND THINGS. On Tuesday the new fire engine for Engine Company No. 16, of Scholes street, Williamsburgh, was tested at the foot of Joralemon street. The cost of the apparatus was $5000. The entire session of the New York Board of Fire Commissioners, on Wednesday, was devoted to passing bills tor supplies for the various Engine and Hook and Ladder Companies, and the transaction of other such rqutinebusiness. The bravery of Firemen reaps a sad reward. It is a credit to the New York Department that never before has there been so many injured Firemen on the list as during the past three months.
