SECRETARY HENRY A. HILLS. Captain Henry A. Hills, Secretary of the National Association of Fire Engineers, whose portrait we present this week, is one of the most popular Firemen in this country. Secretary Hills is esteemed for his reputation as a scientific fire fighter, scarcely more than for a genial, generous nature and noble heart, qualities which go far toward making the true Fireman. Mr. Hills is in his 46th year, having been born June 7, 1837, in the City of Boston. His father was a Boston merchant, and at one time a member of the Legislature of the “Bay” State. Young Henry, following in the footsteps of his father, who was an active and enthusiastic Fireman, began to run with the “ ntasheen ” when he was not older_than sixteen years.
